    Ice Breakers and Seating Charts

The first day of seminary after going over expectations and class rules, I handed out a get-to-know you sheet that looked surprising like the one word tag I posted on my blog (Thank goodness for blogging). I made some age appropriate changes and I passed out the list of questions: 1. Where is your cell phone?, 2. Your Hair? 3. Your mother? and I added at the bottom 29. Your scripture study?, 30. Your alarm clock? and I asked the students to respond to the questions by only using one word. The responses were hilarious and it was a great way to get to know the students better. It was fun to do an ice breaker that made the kids think even at 6 in the morning.

I have 6 girls and 6 boys in my class and instead of assigning seats; I decided to allow my students to sit anywhere they want to sit as long as the pattern is boy-girl-boy-girl. It is entertaining to watch the seating shuffle. The girls usually arrived first so one by one the boys had to decide which girl they will sit next to. It is priceless. I really should not find it as funny as I do because when I go to single adult events, I actually have to participate in the shuffle. Somethings never change.

A tale of Drab to Fab.

There was once a fair maiden (more pale than fair) who wanted a kitchen table but look as she might, she could never find one to call her own. In her distress and sometimes obsession, she looked at mall and outlet until one day she found the perfect table. Old, rustic, and perfect. Not everyone agreed with her decision but she loved her new table.

Once she gave a home to the first table, other tables wanted to join the fair maiden and so she obliged. She took home a small nook table from Goodwill, painted it white and gave it 5 coats of polyurethane for easy cleaning.

Then out of the blue she stumbled on old black, a farm table from the 1800's that feed the farm hands of a family in Oregon (true story). The table is a bit wobbly but it feels like comfort.
(She also got it for FREE!)

Now, everywhere the maiden goes it seems as if she could buy another table but alas she is practical and leaves the tables be so that other fair maidens may rescue them.

    June 12th

When I was blogstalking (thanks Emilie!), I found this idea that I think is awesome. It is called 12 of 12. You take 12 pictures of your life on the 12th day of each month. It is a way to record the simple things in your life. Just think how cool it will be to have one for each month of the year. Check out this blogger's (Cathy) take on the 12 of 12.

I think that this would be fun for everyone to try.

Thanks to Emilie again for being my tech support!

Go here and it will create a single image mosaic for you.
